African Innovation

Much of Africa has been disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis. Today, from Namibia to Nigeria, a new wave of innovation is emerging in response. These creative solutions are addressing some of the continent's – and the world's – most urgent challenges. These organisations are pioneers in renewable energy, agriculture and plastic recycling. With the right investment and infrastructure, Africa can be a valuable source of climate solutions for the rest of the world.

Roam

Kenya’s public transit sector – primarily buses and motorcycles – is a leading driver of CO2 emissions in the country. Roam are capitalising on Kenya's abundance of clean electricity to power fleets of public buses and motorcycles from renewable sources. Their vehicles designed and built within Kenya using locally sourced materials.

Hyphen

Hyphen are harnessing Namibia’s ample natural resources to create green hydrogen. Exported as green ammonia, Hyphen are answering the call from global demand centres like Korea and Japan, as well as redistributing excess energy to the Namibian grid. This project is crucial for bolstering Namibia’s energy security and stimulating their green economy.
