COP28: Aadith Moorthy

"There are too many megaton scale projects and megaton scale solutions out there. In order to truly move the needle on climate change, you need to reach gigaton scale. And to do that, you need these collaborations, you need people across sectors to come together to make that happen."

Aadith Moorthy, CEO of Boomitra, incentivises farmers in India to improve soil quality and sequester carbon through carbon removal credits. While over 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide have been removed from over 5 million acres, he is conscious that scale is required to give finance the opportunity to accelerate the adoption of nature-positive climate solutions. He argues that this can be achieved through proper formalisation of the goals set out in the Paris Agreement and a clear framework to incentivise innovative products like carbon credits.
