Aadith Moorthy, the CEO of Boomitra, underscores the imperative of scaling global climate action by leveraging collaborative efforts across sectors. Boomitra empowers farmers worldwide by enhancing soil quality and augmenting incomes through carbon removal credits. It is a venture that won the 2023 Earthshot Prize.
Moorthy emphasised the necessity of scaling efforts in order to make a substantial impact on climate change. He pointed out that achieving net zero requires not only financial motivation but also a commitment to planetary health, necessitating strong cross-sector collaborations.
Moorthy underscored the importance of Article Six of the Paris Agreement, which facilitates carbon credit trading between countries, and urged for its further operationalisation. He believes that proper policy frameworks will drive action on the ground, enabling companies like Boomitra to scale operations effectively. Despite the challenges, Moorthy remains optimistic, citing the collective brainpower present at COP28 as a catalyst for innovative solutions to climate challenges.
