Highlighting how and where we can reduce transport emissions

Transport systems are the engines of the economy, both locally and globally, but they are one of the main sources of CO2, accounting for almost 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions, 40% of which comes from road transport alone.

Sustainable transport expert Erika Myers highlights the key areas we need to focus on to reduce these emissions; from alternative fuel-sources in aviation,  shipping, ground transport and passenger vehicles, to encouraging sustainable mass-transit, cycling and walking as alternative modes of transport, and recognising that no matter what fuel we use, there are still significant carbon emissions associated with manufacturing process.

Coming up with innovative means of sustainable transport will play a major part in the transition to a net zero economy.
